Arroyo Medical Research has been conducting clinical research studies as a subsidiary of Arroyo Medical Group, Inc., since 2000.  We are dedicated to the advancement of medicine through clinical trials by offering the latest research to our community. What is a clinical trial?

A clinical trial is a research study designed to evaluate the safety and effectiveness of new and existing medicines and treatment therapies. These studies rely on patient volunteers who participate in carefully monitored protocols.

What is a protocol?

A protocol is a study plan on which all clinical trials are based. The plan is carefully designed to safeguard the health of the participant as well as answer specific research questions. It describes in detail who can participate, the schedule of tests, procedures, medications, and dosages, and the length of the study.

Who can participate?

All clinical trials have guidelines about who can participate in order to produce accurate medical results. These guidelines include inclusion/exclusion criteria which must be met for volunteers to qualify. These criteria are based on factors such as age, gender, type and stage of a disease, previous treatment history, and other medical conditions.

What are the benefits?

Each clinical trial is different, so the benefits to a participant can vary. Volunteers are able to take an active role in their own healthcare, gain access to new research treatments, obtain expert medical care for free or low-cost, and help others by contributing to medical research.  Volunteers are generally compensated for their time and travel expenses.
